Genesee Valley Central School District won its second Appalachian Regional Commission grant, securing $145,000 to develop an alternative learning track for students interested in Building Trades careers. The project is a collaborative effort with Wellsville Central School District. Secondary students learn various trade skills and then apply those skills to projects in the community. The grant enabled the districts to purchase a trailer and tools allowing students to work in the community on projects supported by Allegany County Land Bank. Adapting curriculum developed by Alfred State, students who complete the learning track can earn college credits and choose to pursue a two-year degreed in Applied Technology or they can move directly into a Building Trades career. https://www.genvalley.org/site/default.aspx?PageType=3&DomainID=1&ModuleInstanceID=446&ViewID=6446EE88-D30C-497E-9316-3F8874B3E108&RenderLoc=0&FlexDataID=6394&PageID=1
